Last week I had the opportunity to head back to the Adventures In Missions base in Georgia for an event called project search light. PSL is a week of seeing you squad again and listening to speakers talk on re-entry, how to do it well and to share our experiences so far. Afterwards about twenty people from my squad decided that we all wanted to roadtrip to New Orleans and then Texas for the 4th of July. We are staying at a squadmates house here in Nola, and are excited to explore the city and make some more memories before saying our final goodbyes. ( I promise I’m going somewhere with this- keep reading)
Last night we went over to a family friend of Abbys to pray for thier son who slipped into a coma about a month and a half ago. He is 11 years old and his name is Rye. As we prayed over him I felt the Holy Spirit begin to move in the room and it moved most of us to tears and my knees hit the ground. I was left in complete awe of the love and joy that this little boy radiated even though he was asleep. The mother, Julia prayed and it was such an honest prayer of grief and joy and love for her son and her God who is bigger than any sickness this world has to offer.
It was 2 hours that left me feeling so full of the Lord’s love and peace over this family. Thier faith is strong and left me feeling so encouraged, and the opportunity to do this with some of my squad was absolutely beautiful.
